Introducing blues funksters: Jon Amor Trio
Nominees, at the time of writing this, for UK Blues Awards 2026 Band of the Year, Jon, Tom and Jerry are gracing us with their gritty blues!
When we were prepping for this gig with Jon, we asked if he had any comments. ‘I can't really think of anything except that Jeff Beck once referred to me as 'that lanky streak of piss from The Hoax.’ You probably can't use that.’ Oh, yes we can, Jon.
So what brought these three together? A mutual passionate love of high-energy blues and funk. Their rolling sponty improv has drawn comparisons to Cream, Little Feat and John Mayer.
Some credentials for you. Jon has taken the stage alongside the likes of Van Morrison, Buddy Guy and Billy Bragg, and even recorded with Robert Plant. Bass virtuoso Jerry has recorded and played live with Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Larry Garner, John Etheridge and Louisiana Red. Dynamic drummer Tom has toured and recorded with Marc Ford (Black Crowes) Ian Siegal, Elles Bailey, Muddy Manninen (Wishbone Ash), Wille & The Bandits and John Cornfield (Muse, Oasis).
